This is a 1970's Memostar mechanical alarm watch, featuring a 34mm chrome plate case and powered by the seventeen jewel AS1931 movement. The dial has a clean, functional layout with a rotating orange inner alarm hand, date disk and all housed under a 'TV style' acrylic crystal which is in excellent condition for its age.
The AS1931 calibre inside dates to the early 1970s and is a later evolution of the well-regarded AS1475 alarm movement. It shares the same fundamental architecture used by brands like Bulova, Girard Perregaux, and Vulcain, but with improved finishing and refinement developed in the final years of mechanical alarm production.
The case remains sharp and well-preserved, with only light wear visible where some of the chrome plating has worn & some small scratches have been picked up. Both crowns operate smoothly—one for setting the time and the other for winding and setting the alarm, which still rings out crisply when activated. This piece combines vintage charm with genuine mechanical interest and is a great example of the era’s fascination with function-led design.
This Memostar makes for a brilliant addition to any vintage collection. Please get in touch for further details or images.
